Welcome to KANDY, COATED MUSIC featuring those double bubble hits that cracked theTop-40 Charts. Several of the singers pictured below reached, “The Tippity Top of the Old Pop Crop”. Today, this music is gone from the charts but still in our hearts.
One of my favor-right Bubble Gum memories is of Buddha Records promotional guru, “Buck” Reingold dropping by my station promoting Melanie (LAY DOWN – Candles in the Rain) and The Jaggerz’s (THE RAPPER). “Buck” often popped in to WORC Radio hyping the late Len Talbot and regularly visited Mike Ivers (WEIM, WBT, WMJI) Don Russell (WEIM,WBT) with his new vinyl 45’s of Pure, Pop music.
The Music Explosion, The 1910 Fruit Gum Company, The Poppy Family, White Plains, Crazy Elephant and the Lemon Pipers all ruled the airwaves during the late 60’s and early 70’s.
